COMUNA COLLECTIVE

Together with my colleagues Milena Orlandi and Savannah, we have begun forming an artist collective, a space designed to continue our dialogue and collaboration beyond graduation.

Our shared goal is to maintain an active network that allows us to generate new connections, future collaborations, and collective exhibitions, sustaining the momentum of creative exchange that the university environment has nurtured.

The decision to build a collective arises from a simple yet powerful conviction: that strength lies in unity. As artists, it is easy to fall into isolation, to retreat into our individual processes or our desire for authorship.

Working as a team reminds us that creation does not occur in solitude but in relation —through shared ideas, differing perspectives, and the constant friction that refines understanding. A collective becomes a living ecosystem, much like a mycelial network, where each member supports, nourishes, and learns from the others.

Beyond the practical benefits —shared resources, exhibition opportunities, mutual visibility— the collective embodies a philosophical stance: to move away from ego and toward collaboration.

It invites us to listen, to question our own certainties, and to appreciate the multiplicity of viewpoints that coexist within the same creative landscape. In doing so, it strengthens not only our practices but also our empathy and our awareness of the broader artistic community we inhabit. #

By creating this collective, we hope not only to sustain our own practices but also to support other emerging artists.

Through shared platforms, open calls, and joint projects, we aim to foster spaces of inclusion and dialogue where art becomes a medium for connection rather than competition. In many ways, this initiative mirrors the ethos of EN ÕVUM: a structure built on interdependence, care, and collaboration.

Just as the mycelium thrives through its invisible links, our collective seeks to cultivate a network of relationships that extend beyond the self —a reminder that art, at its most vital form, is always a shared act of growth.
